I recently began experiencing difficulties with my Color StyleWriter
2400. I use the printer on a Powerbook G3/233 with OS 8.1 w/HFS+.
The StyleWriter works fine when I have the black-only cartridge
installed. However, when I print with the color cartridge, the printer
head moves and the paper advances, but no ink (B&W or color) is applied to
the paper. (FYI, I'm using the Color StyleWriter 2500 driver.)
I used to use the printer on a 6100/60, and I had no problems printing in
B&W or color. However, the printer was out-of-use for six months. So, is
it possible that the color cartridge shell --the one which holds the
color/b&w ink wells-- has gone bad? Perhaps during the six months of
inactivity, the ink dried on the color cartridge shell? (FYI, I did
replace both ink wells, but the cartridge is still not working. Also, I
have everything setup correctly in the print dialogs, but still the
printer won't print.)
Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Nicholas

Alvena,
Thanks for the advice. I forgot to mention that I tried cleaning the head
several times (using the print dialogue box). Unfortunately, that did not
help either. I just wanted to make sure that I had tried everything
before shelling out $40+ for another color cartridge.
One more question: is it possible to purchase the color cartridge only
(sans ink wells) since I just purchased new b&w and color ink wells? If
so, where might I find this?
Thanks...

Thanks for the tip. The thought crossed my mind, but I wasn't sure if
this would damage the tank-carrier. But as you said, it can't hurt (since
it's worthless right now). I'll let you know if it works.
Cheers,
Nicholas
