Dear friends:

How to know the original file name of a book in the iBook library?

I have a book (in EPUB format) in my Mac's iBook library that I know that
it is not DRM protecetd, because I converted it from a PDF file using
Callibre a couple of years ago. I lost the original PDF file, so I want to
save a copy of the EPUB file in another computer. Please note that the
original PDF file was created by me too.

I looked in the folder where the EPUB files of the iBook library are
stored, but all the names are replaced by a series of digits, so there is
no way to identify the file I am searching for. Also, Apple's iBook OSX
program allows you to send by email PDF files stored in the library, but
not EPUB files.

Is there a way to match the Apple generated new name of the books with any
of the characteristics of the book, like old file name, or book name, or
author's name, etc, in order to be possible to identify the file?

Thanks a lot again.

the original name does not matter. save a copy with whatever name you
want.

That is the problem.

How could I identify the file I want to save, among 150+ EPUB files which
are named in a criptic way?

the same way you identify which book to read, within the ibooks app.

If you know how to identify the file name from an opened book in the iBook
app, please tell me, that is my specific question.

the name of the file makes no difference.

if you want to make a copy of a particular book, just drag it from the
ibooks window to wherever you want. done. ibooks will take care of the
details *for* you.

Activity Monitor can show all opened files for a process. (click on the
"info" button, and from there you get a button to show opened files.

You can probably spot the actual ebook file towards the bottom of the list

Apple tends to use some sqllite databases to have an index that
corolates the display title with randomized file name. Using
unrecognizable files is likely to dissuade people from messing with them
at the Finder level.

Yes, it worked for me too. I didn't know that you could drag and drop a
book from the iBook window, I was trying to find a menu item like "export"
or "send to" or similar in the iBook app.

Thanks a lot again.
