Photograde is supported on the LW IIf/g and later. It requires 5MB of RAM
to run. Essentially, P/G is a technology tied to PostScript which delivers
improved image resolution by using black dots of variable size to emulate
grey shading. The IIf/g and others produce 106lpi (lines per inch) which
exceeds the lpi capability of a number of 600dpi printers, including the
HP4M. The IIf/g max out at 67 levels of grey. Other (lesser) Personal
LaserWriters can also take advantage of PG provided they have sufficient
RAM, although some cannot print at such a high # of lpi. The LaserWriter
Utility/Apple Printer Utility also let you print out test pages to
calibrate the printer to your needs.
