Updating CUPS on a 10.7.5 iMac

I've started playing with Inkscape and Inkcut (plotter driver) on
an iMac running 10.7.5. Inkcut doesn't recognize the rather old
installation of CUPS (which still seems to work fine) and I wondered
how to go about updating CUPS if it's possible. Software Update of
course does nothing.....
