Hello Group,

I am interested in processing application output to Epson Impact
printers for multiple print solutions, mainly text output based.

Can someone share their efforts in configuring an Epson impact printer
to a Mac OSX 10.5 computer any caveats in using this print solution?

Thanks,

David

I haven't used an impact printer on a Mac since I retired my last
ImageWriter, five years ago. (It was also my _first_ ImageWriter. It lasted
20 years.)

In my experience, most impact printers have either parallel or serial
interfaces, sometimes both. In rare cases some have Ethernet cards. I've not
seen one with USB. Some impact printers have slots for after-market add-in
cards, but I'm not aware of any USB cards for any Epson impact printers. This
means that if you want to use an Epson impact printer, you will need to get
one which has an Ethernet card installed or you will need to get a
parallel-to-USB or serial-to-USB converter cable that works with OS X. I
_think_ that there is a CUPS driver which will work with most parallel-to-USB
cables, but I've never used it myself.

You may be out of luck.
