The printer is hooked to a PowerMac 7100 running
System 7.5. I usually use Claris Works, Word5.1
or Word 6.1.
Has anyone seen this problem, and is likely to
be software or hardware related? Thanks.

Is this printer at home or in an office? Don't laugh, it could
be a people problem. I heard of an organization that went through
a lot of laser printer toner cartridges until it was found that
one employee was swapping his empty ones from home (his wife
ran a small publishing business) with full ones from work. I don't
know if he's still looking for another job!
Seriously, if it's an office printer, pop the color inkwell out of
the cartridge (if it's a color + BW combination) and make a small
identifying mark on it. If the cartridge has been swapped you'll
know it!
KO.

The printer constantly flushes ink through the head to prevent cloging.
You're loosing all of your ink to a giant sponge in the bottom of the
printer.
I have a SW2400 which does not seal the ink cartridge properly when not
printing.. within three days the ink cartridges will go "dry" on the
SW2400. But...
I also have a Canon 4000 hooked to my Amiga.. (Usually) if I put a "dry"
SW2400 cartridge into the Canon4000, its suddenly not dry any more --
usually prints on the first pass. Using the "cleaning" util on the 2400
usually requires several attempts before the cartridge comes back to life.
BTW this is the second SW2400 I've had. The first stopped working
altogether a month after I bought it...
As soon as I find a GX driver that will run the 4000 with my Amiga Mac
emulator, the 2400 is going back to the shop, too.
IAC, might (or might not) be the same problem...
