I am looking for a large portable external SCSI hard disk. I need
a 2GB drive (but 1GB might be okay). The drive must be rugged enough
and small enough to carry with my PB.

I am considering the new Iomega Jazz removeable drive but these
don't quite have the capacity I need.

Are there manufacturers of these kinds of drives that someone would
recommend?

Huh? 1 GB might be OK? The Jaz' capacity is 1GB! And you can buy more
cartridges... It's relatively small and portable given the alternatives.

The biggest 2.5" drives out there are 1GB. I've not seen any Mac vendor
selling one as an external SCSI. You are then stuck at 3.5" drives. Bigger
than a Jaz and not as flexible, although capacities run to 4GB. Try APS
for their SR 2000 box...
