I've been running 7.5 on my desk Mac (at work) since its release. I've
been waiting for a good reason to put 7.5 on my powerbook (which is
running 7.1), but I have yet to find one.

System 7.5 verses 7.1 isnt a major upgrade like win 3.1 to win95. On a
PB180 I found that system *7.5.1* didnt use more RAM than 7.11 but was
considerably was more stable. It also comes with a bunch of other goodies
for you to play with.

Does 7.5 take much longer to boot that 7.1 on your PB180? My PB180 loads much
faster than a friend's PB5300cs running 7.5. I was interested to read that you
find 7.5 to be more stable.

I'm running 7.5 on a 520 and it's beautiful--but I have 20 mb RAM.

in addition to and support of david's comments, i also run some of 7.5's
control panels on my powerbook 180 with no problems. some, like mouse
and map, run flawlessly. others, like apple menu options and extensions
manager, prompt "this was not designed to work with your older software"
when you alter the settings, but otherwise cause no problems.
i'd say stick with 7.1 and add on some of the the 7.5 stuff to see if it
works, then make up your mind if there's anything you need to do that
only 7.5 (not a mix-mash of 7.5 and 7.1) can offer.
