All you do is restart while holding down Option-Command-p-r (all four
keys at once). The machine will display the smiling Mac and go a few more
seconds, then start all over again. Let it do this three or four times in
succession and then release the keys to let it start up normally.
I did this and then my StyleWriter II worked fine. I don't know exactly
what "zapping the PRAM" means, but I think it has something to do with
system preferences. Once you do this, you'll have to reset all the
defaults like mouse speed, 32-bit addressing, desktop texture, etc.
One word of caution: zapping the PRAM will erase and remove a RAM disk,
which I learned the hard way. Be sure to save any docs to your hard drive
before you do this.
