HD icon won't change!

Okay, so there are hundreds of more serious things that _could_ be wrong
with my 520c, but I can't change my HD icon! i was able to do it when I
first got it, but a week later, whenever I would "get info" about it, I
didn't have the option of paste.
To make it weirder, last week, my pb had been sleeping for about 20 hours
and when I awoke, I had a blank page for an icon.
I'm running 7.5, have tried starting up w/ another disk, etc. but
nothing seems to work. What's going on?

files from an old SE running system 6.0.7, it crashed (after I had
finished the transfer, thankfully), and shortly thereafter I found that I
couldn't change the icon, etc. Check at the apple web/ftp site - I found
a program (Rename Rescue 1.0) that was designed to fix just such a
problem. The documentation says that this type of problem was fixed in
system 7.1, but....! In any case, the application worked just fine and
we now have custom HD icons....
