Unwanted lines on an active matrix screen

All of a sudden several vertical green lines have appeared on the active
matrix screen of my powerbook duo 280c. Also, there seems to be a
misregistration of colors in other areas of the screen as well. Has anyone
else had this problem and is there any solution short of installing a new
screen?
