At the moment, I need to press command-k to connect. I then have to
select all the messages then press the icon with the DIAMOND on it (by
diamond I mean like the symbol you would find on the ace of diamonds
when playing cards)

Can I get hogwasher to just go ahead and download new articles (not
JUST the headers?)

Also, for posting purposes I use google groups. If i want to use
Hogwasher do I need to pay for a premium Newsserver (such as
Teranews)? Also, which IP address will it show - my ISP's or the News
Servers? Can I use Tor/Privoxy?

Cheers

Schedule - Newsgroups. Type - Repeating. Frequency - every (season to
suit). Apply Schedule to All news accounts (or not as you wish). Actions:
Get article headers, Get marked articles.

No idea. FWIW I use News Individual Net, which is the vast sum of 10 Euros a
year. No idea whether it will work with Google Groups - a dedicated
newsreader is far better.

Thanks Sally. Is the 10 Euro for posting privileges or reading?

It's for both. It pays for a year's account.

Google Groups is accessed in the usual horrible way via a browser.

Both:
<http://news.individual.net/>

Hogwasher also snips signatures :-)

Unfortunately this does not work. One still has to mark the articles
for downloading. I want to download EVERYTHING. I have kill files in
place to zap spam etc. The only work around I know is the press
command-a then click download. I wish it could be automated.

Set-up a filter (rule) to mark all messages for download, in all or selected
newsgroups. The if you need to define a schedule to connect and set it to get
marked articles.

Thanks, it works a treat.

I went to SETUP ----> FILTERS and it was the lowest filter (It says
'drag to specify execution order;)

( I think i want this i.e. it deletes the spam etc. first and then
downloads the desired articles only)

For the benefit of any lurkers considering hogwasher, go for it. And
if you need a free news-server use freenews.netfront.net (no password
or anything requried).
