Hey! I've read all of the OTHER PoSV posts and I was wondering what people
thought of the actual show? My grandmother recorded it for me and I watched
it last week.

I thought that the casting was excellent, to begin with. The acting was all
well done, and Steve Jobs and Bill Gates even LOOKED like Steve Jobs and
Bill Gates.

Everything seemed to be fairly accurate. Of course I'm not very knowledged
on the history of Apple or Microsoft, but it was okay.

The show seemed to be pro-Apple. I don't know if they INTENDED to make it
that way, but Jobs & co. seemed so likable and human while Gates seemed like
a conartist and a nerd.

As for the overall effect, I thought that it was very good. Although most
of the humor was pretty cornballish, I enjoyed it. Basically it was a very
entertaining and pleasant experience.

Well I'd said yes it was amusing, but the true story wasn't all there. For
instance Apple paid a lot of money to see what Xerox had developed. I
think you can get a better idea of the saga by watching "triumph of the
nerds". You can catch it on PBS from time to time.

The "Triumph of the Nerds" show is based on a book called Accidental
Empires. I forget the author, but both the book and the video can be
purchased via the PBS Web site.

You get an idea of the basics. If you get interested, go get a book or
two.
The whole xerox thing is really just a detail most people don't need
or want.
And BTW don't get "Accidental Empires". The basis for "ToN" . It's
dull, and not organized.
It also repeats rumors so it helps to spread the wrong ideas.
Gary Kildall was not just "out flying his plane". He was on business
and was actually returning but not in time.

Gary is another guy who thought he had an understanding with
Microsloth. DRI does systems, Gates does languages. .....yeah right.

No don't get the book. Borrow it. Get it from the library (good luck)
steal it. But don't pay for it. It is bad.
Get "Infinite Loop" by Malone.
Or get "The Journey is the Reward". Those two will feed your apple
needs.
"Gates" and "Hard Drive" will cool your Microsloth needs.

Read "Showstopper" sometime. It is the story of the making of
Microsoft NT. The most interesting part is the human cost of
doing business at and with Microsoft.
