If your ADB bus is dead, so's your Mac.

Unfortunately, Apple designed the motherboard so that you can't just fix a dead
ADB port. I strongly suggest that you take your computer to a reputable repair
place (there are two here in NYC -- notice I said "reputable"; just being an
authorized Apple place ain't enough). There's always hope that it could be
something else.

The only good side I can think of is that your info isn't lost; after all, the
hard drive can be hooked up to another machine.

Good luck.

What exactly happens to you? Do you get a video
response? On some models, failure of video isa simply
a sign of a dead logic board battery.

Yes, Everything starts as normal. All my extensions load, no error
messages, no problem getting to the desktop. It's just that anything
connected to the ADB port supposively dead. For example, when you
start up a MAC all the lights blink on the keyboard. That doesn't
even happen on mine!

Try booting with just the mouse or just the keyboard. You may have a bad
ADB device or cable. There should be a button on the back or front of the
computer to boot it instead of the power key on the keyboard. I had a
mouse once that took down the whole ADB bus, preventing the keyboard from
working also.

What kind of mac are you using. I had this problem with a SE 30 and a
Mac II Fx and i easily solved the problem by replacing the fuse under
the motherboard just below the adb port. If you do not have a fuse, just
make the contact between with aluminium paper.

I do not know if it works on newer macs.

Hope this helped.
