Default Transparency ... Default Disposal Method ...
I'm experimenting with a number of options for making
a transparent animated GIF and ... it ain't working.

The frames do not disappear from the screen. In this
particular 9-frame animation, they all show up on the
screen at the end !!

Am using System 7.5.3 on a Power Computing 100 MHz.

I've made MANY animated GIF's successully using GifBuilder.
But this is the first transparent one I tried to build !!

Thanks for the help !!

Hi, Roger

Don't know if this will help you at all, but FWIW...

I remember reading somewhere that *some* versions of Netscape, for
example, have a problem with transparent animated GIFs.

If you're placing it on a flat colour background, the problem shows up
when you set the BGCOLOR in the BODY tag. If I remember correctly, you
should try making a flat colour GIF file and bring it in using
BACKGROUND="green.gif" in the body tag, which should work if this is the
problem.

If you're already trying it on a tiled background image, of course, this
doesn't help one bit! :-)

After that, I guess it would depend on how you're setting things up in
GifBuilder - I admit it's a while since I last used it, but I'd guess
the transparency should be based on first pixel (if that's applicable to
your graphic) or on Other... if it's not (you'll need the RGB value for
that). Disposal method should be Restore to Background, I guess. Also,
I'd set these for your FIRST frame before you import the others, and
make sure they inherit these settings.

Hope something here works for you. All the best,

Dave
