I was an early patron of the mail-order place MacConnection, and was
outraged when they started putting out a "combined" catalog with both PC
and Mac stuff together in a very tough-to-read format. My PC-owning
friends said I should be glad about this--after all, it emphasized
cross-platform use and gave Macs equal status. Of course, that just pissed
me off worse--after all, Mac software was listed *after* the PC software,
though any 5-year-old can tell that "M" comes before "P" ;-)
Anyway, just got a catalog, and it's back to MacConnection again! Now I'm
not naieve, I know this was probably due as much to complaints from the PC
side as well as the Mac customers--after all, the damn catalog was
illegible! But this is yet another "vote" in the Mac's favor--if the
"Connection" folks are willing to gamble on printing a second catalog
instead of just dropping Mac support altogether, then Apple must be a
viable entitly in their eyes. So, take heart! And buy from
MacConnection--I ordered something at midnight and got it the same day!

Since *I'm* the one with the credit card, it's up to me to order Mac
peripherals for my Mac friends. No name-calling, but I've been screwed over
big-time by many other mail order Mac catalog companies.
That said, I ordered a toner cartridge for a friend for her Personal
LaserWriter 300. Her cartridge arrived the next day, her hubby picked it
up, she installed it that night. No problem.
I've told this tale before, but my previous order for her was a trackball
from PC and MacConnection (married names). Trackball was packed poorly (no
peanuts or protective packaging) by the manufacturer; it was broken by the
time it arrived at my arrival site; I called MacConnection and received an
RMA number immediately with a replacement trackball (re-packed by
MacConnection) the following day. No problem. As soon as the damaged
trackball arrived back at MacConnection, they credited my credit card,
*including* shipping to me (other catalogs don't credit shipping, noteably
Tiger Software, Shreve Systems, MacWarehouse, MacMall, etc., etc., et al.,
ad nauseum...).
My business stays with PC Connection/MacConnection, no matter what their
name continues to be, as long as they continue to keep prices competitive,
and as long as they continue to keep up this level of *service*. The others
do indeed pale in comparison, IMHO, and I welcome good reports from the
other companies to steal my business away from one very honest company,
which has thus far earned an A+ grade from me and my friends and clients.
Cheers!

What is the telephone number? I'd like to get a catalogue myself.
Thanks, Dave

I totally agree. I called repeatedly to cancel all my (many)
subscriptions - and succeeded.
Then the other day, A co-worker brought one in to work, and I was
pleased with the change.
It's a good catalog, carrying many items the others don't (Kiss Solar
panels, for example).
Welcome home you ol' prodical son.

they've even got a cool number: 1-800-800-2222

The (blessed few) times that I've actually needed to order PC stuff i've
gotten the same level of service. Their sales guys have access to the
entire inventory so I can mix and match as needed.
Kudos, MacConnection!

Yeah, but I can't order SpeedDoubler through SGI. :)
