A company by the name of Quadmation will beat anyone's prices on a
Quantum 105. Currently, they are selling it for $579 bare, and the
bracket costs $15. That's their advertized price, they are willing to
negotiate. They're in San Jose, and their # is 1-800-733-7887. Simms
from them are $62.50. Comes with 5 year warranty.

Note: I have to qualify myself in that I use to go to school with the
owner of Quadmation.

I called Quadmation and was told that their price was $79 for
SIMMs for my SE. I mentioned the $62.50 figure I had seen on
the net, and was told that it didn't apply to me since I al-
ready had a megabyte of memory. I had some difficulty under-
standing the sales rep, since he had an accent that that I
wasn't able to adapt to and since he said several things that
didn't seem to make any sense. Has anybody had any luck dealing
with Quadmation?

Yeah, I called them today to get a quote for a Quantum 105. When he
told me $639, I didn't even feel like barganing, so I hung up,
called APS, and ordered a Q105 for $599 with brackets and software.
It's shipping out Airborne Express tomorrow.

Well, with all of these cheap drives coming out, I'm considering
adding a second internal drive to my Mac II.

This was discussed last year, but I've since lost the information.
Can anyone shed some light on what has to be done? Barring that,
does anyone want to buy a noisy old 140MB Rodime 5.24" drive? ;-)

I've dealt with them and gotten a deal. They even installed everything into
my new ci "for free". Of course, I drove over there and that's not an
option for everyone on the net!

I have a question about the Quantum 105Meg drives. Let's say I purchase an
external model at a reasonable price. (Do they have an external model?)
Would it be viable to then take out the drive from within the external,
install it in my Mac SE, and then take my internal 20meg, install it in the
external and sell it for $200 or more?

I'm sure getting a $200 price for an external 20 meg would be easy, but my
main question is, can this be done? Installing a former external within the
Mac SE?

Thanks y'all!

- Chris
