Hi All,

I recently installed a Supra 14.4 LC fax modem into my 2vx and everything works
ok except that it is TOO SLOW!

Getting on to on-line services is no problem, uploading and downloading data is
not a problem but FAXING is where the speed issue is a big deal. On
long-distance
(and international) faxes, long phone-connect tims can run up bigtime
phone bills
and this is a big concern of mine.

What can I do to speed it up? At 14.4K baud rate - it is really not a
speed demon
(like a 28.8K one) but it should be no slouch either. A 1-page fax to a
long distance
number takes over 3 minutes!! What's going on? I realise that the
speed of the
transmission depends on the receiving fax machine too but even on
Incoming faxes,
it takes forever. If this continues, it may be better to just buy a
regular fax machine
instead of relying on my modem to do the job.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is my fax software (FAXCilitate)
screwed up?
I surfed the net for a FAQ on Fax modems and modems in general but could
not find
much info.

Can anyone out there help me out with suggestions?

Appreciate the help
Harish

The size of a faxed document will be larger than the size of
a text document, because you are sending the bits. For example
my resume which is about 1K text runs 85K in fax mode.

Moral send document whenever possible, not fax.
