I had been using this for several weeks directly on my desktop
(formica). As it turns out, the very slight dust that accumulates
on this "foot" has sanded it down to the point that the upper
movable part of the mouse almost touches the desk now.
This looks like if I continued using it this way, in about 6
months, I won't be able to push the top down far enough to
"click" it anymore. As a result I've started using it on a
mousepad, but it tends to be sortof "sticky" when sliding it
(hard to get precise movements in graphic applications).
I like this mouse and the lack of cable. Has anyone heard of any
third party stickon strips that might make this thing glide
better on my desktop without it sanding itself into oblivion
before my next birthday?
Another solution might be a mousepad with a teflon surface :-)
Can a person actually buy parts for these things or is it even
worth it?
I loved the way my old Rev A iMac puck-mouse used to glide around
but I like the wireless operation and larger size of the
bluetooth mouse I have. I'm not interested in any other mouse.
I'm just trying to see if I can:
A) Get this one sliding better and
B) Doing it in a way that the skids don't wear off inside of the
year.
BTW, I really don't have that filthy of a desk :-) It's just that
with the harder surface, even the tiny amount of grit that
settles out of the air everycouple of days can accumulate on the
mouse's skids. In only a month or tow of use, you can see where
the sanding effect is occuring.
