Hello.

Renaming my mounted external USB3 Seagate 4TB HDD's names doesn't update
in Big Sur's Time Machine.

In the past with Mojave v10.14.6, I could do that and Time Machine would
see the updated names. Is this broken in Big Sur (seen in both v11.1 and
v11.2)? This is on a month old 2020 13" MacBook Pro (Intel i7 CPU).

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

I do not understand what you mean by this.

Are you renaming the drive that is the Time Machine Target? Why the hell
would you ever do that? You name it TARDIS and you leave it at that name
forever. (Tardis is acceptable)

Yes, renaming it because I don't like the old name I gave a few weeks
ago when I set it up.

Since Time Machine uses the UUID of the drive, it doesn't are what the
name is. O can't think of any reason why someone would have spent time
have TM check the drive's name after setup.

I'll have to take your work for it that this used to happen, but TM is
quite different in Big Sur.

Oh well, thanks anyways. What else is different in BS' TM? It looks the
same compared to Mojave v10.14.6 and earlier. I know it can use APFS.
