Hello.

Where can I get the correct driver for this almost decade old HP Deskjet
450 printer driver? 13.3" MacBook Pro (2012) Mac OS X 10.8.3 doesn't
seem to find the proper driver (currently gives me generic PCL driver)
and I cannot find one for this version online. Mac OS X doesn't let me
view my ink status/supply levels, colors in printouts, etc. It uses
driver v1.5 for USB connection.

HP.com web site shows three different models for 450 and I have no idea
which one it is. Serial number is c8111a and manufactured on 6/10/2003
in Singapore.

FYI, the printer does work on an old MacBook Pro (2008)'s Mac OS X
10.5.8 had no problems even with colors with the supplied Inkjet v3.3.3
driver (does not seem to exist in 10.8.3).

Thank you in advance. :)

I would suggest keeping the old printer for the old computer and buy a
new HP Deskjet ePrinter/Scanner combo as long as you have the computer
that the 450 will work it will until that computer Dies. Its a Tank a
Work Horse. A New HP the way every one is Made in China I expect to give
out in a couple of years Sadly But you can get them at OfficeMax some
for less than a $100.00

Thing is its not just HP every printer Made today is Junk. Even
expensive Business Printers except the Copier Type like the BizHub are
the same way they'll be junk in two years.

Yeah, I cannot even figure out which one of the three it is too. :/

Yeah, I don't want to install a very old driver and hose Mac OS X. :O

It does work with generic PCL or whatever driver it was called. Just no
colors, statistics, etc. in 10.8.3. :( 10.5.8 works out of the box (no
downloads and installations). :)

I assume this is what Guten printer driver uses?

Yeah, my client loves to keep old working hardwares. Sheesh. You should
see how many old ink cartridges he has for it. Oy!

Yes. and it doesn't make any difference what Manufacturer except for the
BizHub type Printers. all are made in far east. By people that work for
a few cents on the dollar and don't give a crap one way or the other if
something is cracked or put on upside down or backwards just so they
work a Piece.

Of all Printers made to day I still think HP is the best with epson
pulling up a quick second. all the rest Flip a coin.
