My OS won't start. (Mac Classic II).

I tried booting with the Tools Install diskette but nothing works.

Question:

I also have a Mac SE/30. Can I temporarily install the Classic II hard disk
in the SE/30 to retrieve my data?

Thanks

Nothing to configure? Just plug and pray?

Wait a minute. Let me check some assumptions. First, the data is on the hard
drive of the Classic 2? You intend to take that out and put it in the SE?
If the OS is corrupt it will be corrupt even with the Classic hard drive
in the SE - and it won't start up there either.

What you want to do is put both hard drives into the same Mac, start from
the SE hard drive, and hope to recover the data on the Classic 2 hard drive?

If it won't start up with a tools disk - you almost certainly have a hardware
problem. Very possibly a failed hard drive.

When you try to start the Classic 2 with it's original hard drive, do you
get the Chimes of Doom or any failure to start up due to hardware self check
failure?
