I get excellent results with my Alps MD-5000. I also have the PostScript
option. Makes extremely accurate and durable (waterproof) transparencies.
Check out more information at:

<http://www.alpsusa.com/Product/MDP/index.htm>

If you have more to spend, you could get a Tektronix Solid Ink printer.
This should also produce durable transparencies.

Ciao!

Dear Robert,

there are several possibilities for your task.

- Print out an overhead - transparency on a color copier ( good value
method, but simple quality )
- Print out an overhead - transparency on a fuji picrograph ( better
quality, higher price )
- expose a digital dia positive ( best method )

- last not least you can print out a large format print ( and forget
projection )

All articles we can deliver you. Contact me at

regards

Jens

Best results is a subjective term, but I found that the colour laser was
generally not as good as the solid ink printers. Dye sublimation runs a close
second. Check out the Tektronix solid ink printers to find a really good
quality result. They also sell a dye sublimation version that produces very
vibrant colours.

If you are a bit tighter on your budget, like me, get an Alps MD-5000. It uses
a patented technology sort of like solid ink. For an extra $100, you can add a
dye sublimation kit. You can also produce water transfer decals on this
printer. I like the fact that I can load up to seven colours at a time,
including metallics and gloss coat. There is also a PostScript option that
works very well.

I had bad luck, and results, using HP and Epson inkjets for transparencies.
They smear way to easily, and do not hold up well to repeated handling. The
colours are slightly more vibrant than colour laser, but nowhere near as good
as dye sublimation.

inkjets are terrable. Special $1/each transparancies to print
washed out colors..

The first several color lasers I used were passable, but not great.
I'm really liking the HP4500 they just bough "me" (ha ha) at work..
It is completely passable as a black-only priner as well.

We currently have Tektronix phasers and love them. But, you know, nothing
seems to print out rich vibrant overheads like our old Tektronix phaser
220 thermal wax printer (it's currently in our attic, we'll let it go for
song).
