Does anyone know of a mac version of the old apple II Castle Wolfenstein
game? I used to love playing it, but I can't seem to find it. :(

Thanks!

Wolfenstein 3D is coming out for the Mac, by MacPlay. I don't know if
Castle Wolfenstein is like Wolf3D for the PC/Mac though, having never
seen it.

There is an incredibly great apple II emulator available on cassandra.ucr.edu,
and there are a lot of old apple II disks available there. Download
the index. I know wolfenstein is there, because I've played it!

Don't miss some of the other great games... These guys did a fantastic job.

Castle Wolfenstien bears a closer resemblance to Pacman than Wolf3D; only
the plot bears any relation. CW had a top-down view, with gloriously cheesy
graphics. The marching sounds and the cries of Achtung! and Schweinhund!
(eerily reminiscent of the Daleks from Dr. Who) made for a really intense
game, though.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no port available.

Sadly, ignorant moralists have forced that cassandra to remove all the
disks and the emulator. Come on! What harm is done in distributing 10
year old games, when the original publishers are out of business? Another
reason I think software copyrights should only last 10 years, before they
have to be renewed.

As much as I like 3d games (I guess as much as the next guy), I still
believe the good old original "Castle Wolfenstein" was/is a cool game - a
staple of the Apple II community.

Castle Wolfenstein for Macintosh, or a game that closely resembles it, does
not exist on any of the FTP sites. Alas, now that 3d graphics are today's
buzzword, I doubt anyone will even think about making it.

The only way to play it is with an old Apple or an emulator on your Mac. The
makers of Wolf 3D (yes, id software) own the license, so I doubt a new Mac
version of Castle Wolfenstein of Beyond Castle Wolfenstein will come out
anytime soon.

Try STM0.85r (Stop the Madness v0.85r). It's an Apple ][ emulator that is
actually quite amazing. It can be FTP'd from a number of popular sites (I
think). All you have to do is create an STM image file from the original
Wolfenstein disk, and you'll be playing it on the mac.
