Lame!

I just picked up copies of Lunicus and Jump Raven at the Educorp booth at
MacWorld Expo. Cyberflix is a great company, the games play wonderfully,
too. There's an incompatibility with Sound Manager 3.0 that annoys the
crap out of me, however.

The tech support rep I spoke with at Cyberflix's home office in Knoxville,
TN, says that due to their own proprietary coding to optimize performance,
their audio tracks aren't compatible with Sound Manager 3.0.

The problem doesn't hose the program, nor does it prevent sound from being
played...properly. What happens instead is that all sound is sent through
the left channel, instead of distibuted between the left and right
speakers. Restarting the Mac with SM 3.0 turned off fixes the problem.

It's an inconvenience more than anything, but I was left with the
disturbing impression from Mark at Cyberflix that they think that Sound
Manager 3.0 isn't a vital part of the operating system. Kinda silly, given
the positive affect it has on other Mac games, like Asterax and Maelstrom.

He mentioned that they do track customer feedback, though. If this bugs
you, give them a call and let them know how you feel.

Just causin' trouble on the info superhighway. See ya!
