Myst, Stuck in Channel Wood Age.

to the book to return to myst is working. The Elevator that goes from the
1st to 2nd level is working. But I can't get the elevator that goes from
the 2nd to 3d level working. If I direct the water to it, then I cant get
up to the 2nd floor. Do I have to get the water going two places at once?

I was able to finish. The ending was a bit disapointing though, stuck in
a bunch of completely empty worlds with no one to talk to but this old man
who does nothing but write. I hope the sequel comes out soon.

OTOH, you don't need a water supply to climb stairs.

You'll have to open the gate on the stairs, and then use them to go up
instead. Hint: to open the gate, find the switch on the second floor.

Since you can only direct power to one elevator motor at a time, you
have to find another way to get to the 2nd level other than an
elevator. Notice that there is a stairway up to the 2nd level.
Unfortunately, the doors around it are locked. You need to locate some
way to unlock the door at the top. You can then go down it and unlock
the door at the bottom.
WARNING--Explicit instructions follow:
After going up to the 2nd level via the elevator, go out to the huts.
Take every "right" exit and you end up in a hut that looks out towards
the top of the stairs. There's a switch in the hut that will open the
door at the top of the stairs. You can then take the stairs down and
unlock the bottom door, reconfigure the valves to power the elevator
that goes from the 2nd to the 3rd level, climb the stairs and go up via
the elevator.
