My husband just bought a PowerMac 7100/80. His purchase was contingent
on also purchasing a decent pinball game for me. Are there any such
games like that out there? I've seen Crystal Caliburn and Loony Labyrinth,
but I haven't heard anything about them, and am wary of plunking down
$40 for the privilege of reviewing them. Are there any good pinball
games anybody could recommend, preferrably a game with several different
tables? I think I'd get tired of just one game after a while.

TIA

Sorry there isn't anything with multiple tables - If you can add a DOS
card to your PowerMac you could get Pinball Fantasies, which is probably
the best pinball game on the market with four tables, from what i've read.
Otherwise for pure challenge go with either Crystal Caliburn or Eight
Ball Deluxe (a simulation of a classic Bally pinball table - I have a
sealed copy if you're interested for $26 shipped vs. ~$36 for one of the
other games shipped - I've played it more than the other three pinball
games I have) For some challenge and fun go with Loony Labyrinth -
there's also Tristan, but I'd go with one of the other ones first. Amtex
is supposed to release a version of Gottlieb's 1976 pinball classic Royal
Flush and later they plan to release Black Knight, FunHouse, Fireball, El
Dorado, Queen of Hearts and a pinball construction kit - it's going to be
a while though.

Download demos of the games - I can't tell you where, but there are demos
for CC, LL and Tristan - none for EBD.

Good Luck!!!!!

Actually, CC and LL are about the only games in town - but they're good
games. I've had CC since January, and like it a lot. There is only one
table, but it's pretty challenging.

I don't have LL, and some messages on the net suggest that it's much
easier than CC - maybe too easy (endless games, etc.).

I can easily recommend CC, and if you're really into pinball, you might
want to buy CC and LL bundled together through one of the Mac catalogs - a
lot cheaper than buying them separately.

Hope this helps!

Tami, these are great games. The board looks better on Crstal Caliburn,
but Looney labrinth is a little easier.

Tami, I tried to reply to you via e-mail, but your address seems to be
incomplete in the posting. You can download demos of Crystal Caliburn and
Loony Labyrinth from the /users/starplay directory of ftp.usa.net. The demos
are playable, but only for 90 seconds each game.

Both of them are very good. I played Loony more than Crystal, because there
is a kind of plot to solve while playing and that really keeps you going :)
The quality of graphics, sounds (specially the sounds!) is extremely good.
If you want the best Pinball programs for the Mac, don't hesitate to buy
one or both!

Aw, man, Eight Ball deluxe rocks house! We've got CC here on
the computer at school, and I've got Eight-ball on my mac at
home. I prefer eight-ball, its not as flashy or as quick, but
its a great simulation of a classic pinball game. It really
does come about as close to real pinball as you're ever going
to get on a computer.

I got a sealed copy of Eight Ball Deluxe if anyone is interested - if
you're ready for a challenge. $26 shipped or best offer
