Is there any reason why I shouldn't be able to complete this puzzle?
I've seen Gehn, I've talked to Catherine, I know the right combination
of stones but it steadfastly refuses to open.

Angelfish, beetle, frog, duck-billed thing, wahrk - right? Either way
I've tried every possible combination of these five and I'm stuck.

There are some similar-looking symbols for some of those; as a hint, the
correct symbols are *not* printed in the manual ;->

Thanks - I was using the wrong symbol for the beetle.

Yes; specifically, make sure you have the *right* frog. Also, in case
it's not obvious, the whark at the end happens to line up
with the door you need to go through...

It was way back last fall that I played, so I don't remember exactly
what the order was, but this sounds right. The tricky part is picking
the correct frog - there are two versions, and the least frog-like is
the one to choose.

Good luck,

If you want to know exactly which stone image are the right ones to push,
go back to the places where the rotating balls are. In most cases, if you
look at the balls from the right perspective, you get the image that is on
the stone. For example, the ball with the beetle sound, if you fill up the
basin with the water, the water makes the shape of the beetle which
matches the stone drawing. The ball in each case is the eye of the
creature.
