: I'm running a Performa 6116 (otherwise known as the PPC 6100/60) that's
: clock chipped to 80MHz. The accelerator I have is from Newer Technologies
: and is fixed at 80 MHz and from what I've heard that's about the best
: speed. My first suggestion is to trash the fan that they send you and get
: one from Radio Shack. The included fans are almost always cheap and die
: after a few months. The second suggestion is to go with a 1 meg L2 cache
: since the 6100 uses onboard video. The large cache allows the video to be
: cached as well and really speeds up your display which is important for
: high framerates in games like Marathon and DOOM. Another thing that I
: should mention is that you should forget about adding any PDS expansion
: cards to a clock chipped system. There isn't enough space between the
: expansion card and tthe CPU to allow peoper cooling of the CPU.

What size caches are available for the 61xx's? I'd like to put one in my
Performa 6115, and I'd like to do 1MB if possible. However, in my limited
search I've found 256K to be the highest size being called a SIMM.
DIMM's, of course, seem to be available all the way up. Can anybody help
out?

Check out: <http://www-leland.stanford.edu/~stevenk/61graphics.html> for the
complete scoop on hot-rodding your 6115, or any other 61XX model.

I have my 6115 chipped with a Trinity Works 80MHz and it has worked fine for four
months now. I also have a 256k cache, but am looking to upgrade to a 1MB soon. The
1MB can be had for $250-$300.

Hope this helps.

Andy
