I recently gave my brother my Performa 6115CD with 24 Meg Ram. He told me
he would like to get Redneck Rampage. Is this game out for the Mac and wll
it run on my old Performa?

It's not available yet, but is on the "real soon now" list.
Logicware's site proclaims "early December" but I guess they've kind of
missed that about now... =)
Given the graphic-engine of the game isn't particularly sophisticated
(compared to, say, the resource gobbling Unreal) it should run OK on your
Performa. Logicware don't seem to have any "official" minimum specs on
their site though....

So far it runs on the 7100/80 at a decent frame rate (12-15 FPS). Of course
a G3 flies!!!
It's just taking so darn long since we had to write a "Build" compatible
engine from scratch due to a licenseing snafu that we were in the middle of.
At least all the other games don't have that problem!!
I am burning the final candidate of Jazz JackRabbit 2 today (Sunday) if the
playtesters sign off this version then it will be declared gold.
I'm just being extra careful with our products since people still haven't
forgiven us for the problems with Shattered Steel and Killing Time. At least
all of our games work great now with the updates off of our web site.
I know that I will revise Jazz to add the Jazz Construction Set later. But
hopefully no bugs!! :) :)

I'm glad to hear you are doing this Bill. While Jazz doesn't particularly
interest me, I'm sure some of your future products will, and when they do
I can be happy to buy them without worrying about bugs.

So what's the deal with that? What can you tell us about the snafu?

Interplay refused to license their gaming engine, they only licensed the
game itself. So Logicware was forced to essentially write the game
engine from scratch.
I can't even imagine the hell they must have gone through to get the
game to match Redneck Rampage exactly without being able to use it's engine.

Am I correct in believing Redneck Rampage uses the same engine as Duke Nukem 3D?
Or am I think of an entirely different game? Something other than Shadow
Warrior, which uses the Duke Nukem engine.

Didn't Redneck Rampage use the same engine as

Simple, start with the Killing Time engine. (Which was a complete new design
inspired by DOOM and Duke).
Add the BUILD stuff that Killing Time didn't support. Add portals to an
engine that was never designed for one. Realize this was a big mistake and
start from scratch. Now we have a BUILD compatible engine that's pretty good
but of course it only plays data for Redneck Rampage since we only got it to
work with Redneck data and not Duke or Shadow Warrior data.
Sigh....

Yeah, gotta love those Interplay/Xatrix deals, eh?

Why? Why whouldn't Interplay license an outdated engine along with
the game? Could they not, because MacSoft has exclusive rights?
It should be out for the Mac within the next couple of weeks, and - although
the official system requirements have not been posted - should run fine on
your Performa, as Redneck Rampage was designed to run on PCs a couple of
years ago.
