I got my preorder from Aspyr today! It runs fantastic on my RevB iMac
with Game Wizard. The sound and graphics are great as advertised. The
crew at Westlake did another superb job on this one! Now, just gotta
get into an online game! Thanks for the great game Aspyr/Westlake!!!!

Oh, anyone know if an update for Falcon is upcoming? There is a really
annoying sound bug when you put on the external orbital camera.

I also got my Madden 2000 pre-order yesterday and I fully agree with the
above statements. It is wonderful to finally have a top-notch sports game
on the Mac. The game actually runs quite well in software mode on my PM
6500/250. The graphics aren't terribly impressive, but the gameplay is
still fun. And heck... I have been looking for a reason to buy a G3
upgrade card and/or a 3D graphics card.

P.S. I have noticed one bug so far. Last night when playing against the
computer AI, the timeouts that I called were charged against the computer
AI's team. But hey, this is the Macintosh (and not a PlayStation) and
these things can eventually be fixed.

Cool. Any idea if an old Gravis ADB gamepad will work well with this
game? I'm not a game player, and I can probably pick one up cheap. It
only has 4 buttons, but I would imagine that would be sufficient for a
football game, but then again with all the fancy games these days, I
dunno...

Thanks,

Dave,

After reading the manual to M2K, it seems the games expects you to have a 9
button game pad or better........the pictures in the manual look like the
Gravis Gamepad Pro USB, or a PlayStation controller.

You can reconfigure the buttons, but you won't be able to do ALL the moves
(on offense while running you could assign dive/speed/spin/jump, but not
juke left/right, lateral or stiff arm).

I do highly recommend the Gravis Gamepad Pro, if you have USB its a since
to plug in and run with, and its the closest to the console gamepads I've
seen.

I don't see why it wouldn't work . It uses game sprockets in it. If your
using OS9 with the new generic sprocket, it should be able to be configured
for about anything I would assume.

I would recommned a Gravis Xterminator. It's got 6 buttons on top, all
pretty close together making play a lot easier. I was getting killed at
Madden with a GamePad Pro. Undefeated with the Xterminator ;)

I second that. A truly well-made gamepad!

You could also get MacAlly's iShock, which is very much like the Shock
controller for the Playstation. A VERY good controller!

I have a Gravis Xterminator joystick and when using it with Madden can't
find an option to assign a button to Button 9 for Timeouts. How can I call a
timeout on the field when using the joystick? The keyboard key (T) doesn't
work.

You call a timeout by pressing the "Start/Pause" button (whatever you have
it assigned to), and then press down to select Call Timeout, then the
action button.

You can also call a timeout by hitting ESC to get to the pause menu, then
clicking or arrowing down to Call Timeout.

I also highly recommend the iShock controller from MacAlly for many
reasons:

(1) It's bigger than the GP -- about the size of the PSX dual shock
controller which is good for people with larger hands.

(2) It also has 2 analog sticks just like the PSX analog controllers

(3) It has 6 buttons in the center of the pad instead of just 2 like
the GP and PSX controllers.

(4) The d-pad feels more sturdy than the GP.

(5) IT HAS A MAPPING APPLICATION FOR NON-INPUT SPROCKET GAMES!

The only downside is that it's $30 while you can find the GP for
$15-$20.

Every time I call time-outs using this method when playing against the
computer AI, the timeout is charged against my opponent. Also, it will
not let me substitute for my own team, just for the AI's team. It is
possible I could be doing something wrong?

Hmm, thats weird. It shouldn't be doing that. You are moving the
controller up/down at the select screen to the team you want to control
right?

Yes...I'm definitely controlling my own team. I actually have one of the
old Gravis Gamepads that I use to play. Works pretty well, although I
only have access to three receivers each play. I even tried switching the
controller to the other team in the middle of the game, but timeouts and
substitutions were still for the AI's squad.

Yesterday, I played another game (this time as the home team) and the
timeouts were correctly awarded and substitutions were for my own team.
Do you think that home vs. away may have something to do with this? I'll
try to play another game today to test this out.

Not that this really has anything to do with the MAC version of Madden,
which I don't have yet...but I rented the Playstation version of Madden
2000, and was playing a game with the Raiders...when I noticed the
announcers called them the Los Angeles Raiders! This is definitely
incorrect! Hehe. Wondered if that was the same in the Mac version.
