Does Apple ever really pay attention to such communications? They do not
appear to acknowledge receiving such reports from me.

Conservatives are against Darwinism but for natural selection.
Liberals are for Darwinism but totally against any selection.

usually you'll get a "works as designed" reply.

And sometimes an acknowledgment that a bug has been confirmed or that
the condition has been reported earlier.

wrong.

Yes, they do. I suppose it depends on what it is being reported.
They've also been better in the past about responding than they
seem to be these days.

What's been most annoying to me are things like a pre-binding bug
in 10.4, which didn't get fixed before 10.5 (a bug ridden piece of
crap) came along (which means 10.4 fixes were abandoned).

Apple's bug reporting system (Rdar) is also thoroughly closed -
you can't see what others have filed, although you may receive
your bug is a duplicate of someone else's. Thius has led to
the creation of "Open Radar," which is accessable by anyone,
and people are encouraged to file duplicate reports there.

Neat idea. Thanks.
