I bought a USR Sportster 28.8 Voice/Fax modem yesterday (for my Dad's PC)
and after some frustration getting it to work, called (gasp!) tech
support. It's a toll call, and you have to wade through about 10 minutes
of automated prompts to get to a Real Live Human Being. When I told her
the problem I was having (the Styop button did nothing while recording a
greeting) she told me right off the bat it was a bad chip and that they
would ship me a replacement.. in 10 business days.
Now, this may not have anything to do with comp.sys.MAC.comm, but I don't
read PC newsgroups, and I assume USR ships the same hardware for both
platforms, so I thought someone might like to know.
Fun fun fun.
Adios,
carlos madera
