I have a complete VIDEO_TS file (a collection of music videos
downloaded via bittorrent). It consists of the following files:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB

I can play the .vobs fine on my mac using VLC Media Player.

The problem comes when trying to burn it to DVD. Using Toast (latest
version) in Video format the following error:

4 files are in an unsupported format and cannot be imported.

I tried creating a disk image and burning it with Disk Utility, but
that failed too, as did trying to burn as Data in toast.

Is there a way to take these otherwise playable .vob files and somehow
process/reprocess them into burnable DVD files?

I'm running OS X3.4.

Jeff,

Create a folder into which you should place the VIDEO_TS folder. This
folder's name should be composed of upper-case characters, digits, and
underscores (no spaces, punctuation, etc). Create another folder inside
the new folder named AUDIO_TS -- leave it empty.

Launch Toast 6. On the Data pane, open the drawer and select DVD-ROM
(UDF). Drag the folder onto Toast. Burn.

Enjoy...

Don't bother. It isn't necessary to include an AUDIO_TS folder. I never
have and they've always played. Also FWIW, I just click the NEW DISC
icon in Toast and drag the VIDEO_TS folder inside. A little faster than
what you describe with the extra folder thingy.

They may have always played on your player and on most of mine, but
some brands/models seem to be a bit fussier (my Philips 704, for
example). To ensure compatibility, one simple step to make the
structure completely compliant seems worthwhile.

And, how is hitting New Disc and then naming the disc within Toast any
faster than doing it in the Finder before the drag? Seems like "six of
one, half dozen of the other" to me.

Time it. I don't really care what you do.
