Hi,
I am a headmaster in the UK, and would like an application that can track
money - deposit and expenditure. MYOB seems a bit advanced, and does much
more than I need, and therefore can't justify the price. Quicken only has
US/Canadian currency - unless anyone can tell me that I can change currency
by setting an oversea account? Any other ideas. I am no good at excel, and
though I could manage a spreadsheet on it could not create one to suite my
needs! Any advice? Please I am a bit desperate!!!

Ask one of your brightest math students to create an Excel spreadsheet
for you. Or turn it into a class project. It could be a practical
learning experience for both you and the students.

You might consider Accounts, at <http://www.nano.com.au/>. It's small
and inexpensive, and should be up to the task. Well, if you don't mind
double-entry accounting, anyway.

If you're talking about an application for personal accounting, I
suggest you look at some of the software download sites such as Tucows.
Not all of the programs you find there will be free, but generally they
are reasonably priced. I'm a bookkeeper and know MYOB pretty much
backwards and forwards, I have to use both AccountEdge (Mac) and the
Windows flavors of MYOB, but for my personal accounts I use a neat
little application called Budget. And there is a OS X version. You'll
have to judge whether it handles your currency adequately, and fills
your other needs.

Is the English money still pennies, shillings, pounds, and guineas, or
did it go metric? I imagine you could use Quicken in any curency where
there is 100 small units to a large unit, Deutchmarks for instance.

Hold-Up Pro is the name of the software that you need. It is found at:

It should meet all of your requirements. Download a demo copy and evaluate.
