David, You have to go into your extensions folder and drag everything to the trash that contains the word "desktop" or the letters "=
GX". Then reboot and trash any desktop printer icons.

Another overlooked option, and probably the best, is to use the original
installer program provided by Apple that installed the system software.
When you get to the screen where you see "Easy Install," there is a
pop-up menu that lets you choose "Custom Uninstall" or "Custom Remove" (I
forget the exact wording). With this, the Installer will remove all parts
of whatever you choose for you, including all those invisible 'scri' files
that you can't see, though I don't know if there are any for QDGX.
Remember to boot with all extensions off by holding down the shift key
before you run the installer, though.
Personally, except for the memory drain, I think QuickDraw GX is a vast
improvement over the normal printing process. Are you having a specific
problem with it tha I can help you with?

If the road to Hell really is paved with good intentions, then I am
building my own private onramp.
David, I just did this the other day, when I decided to give gx another
try. Didn't work. So I opened the installer, (which is on the 7.5 update 2
disk) and selected custom remove. It removed all of it except the
"about..." file in the root HD folder.

how about doing a FIND search, then dragging the GX files to the
trash...

Your OS system installer under the custom install menu allows for
de-installing software. My cd of 7.5.3L gives me the option to take Quick
Draw off.
Hope this helps.

QuickDraw GX
QuickDraw GX Helper
after that it does not matter if you leave the GX printer drivers and
other GX extensions in, since the other GX utilities won't be loaded.
I use the extension manager to do this, simply selecting and deselecting
as appropriate and then restarting. Though you could just as easily as
use the finder's find command (File menu:Find...) and locating those two
files and then dragging them to the desktop.
BTW having both old and new printer drivers together in the system
folder doesn't hurt the older QD ignores the QDGX drivers and vice
versa.
I don't use QDGX for printing because there is no GX driver for my
printer :(, though I use it to print out a QD GX PDD file that I can
then convert to a PDF file using a free utility called Tumbler. This
way I don't have to fork out a fortune on Adobe's solution ;)
Hope this helps.
