I had the box for photos NOT checked.
Every time I connect the iPod touch, iPhoto launches.
Then when iTunes comes up, it complains that it can't
sync photos because it can't find the pictures folder.
But iPhoto found the folder and displayed the pictures.
I click "OK" because I don't want photos synced anyway.
Then iTunes continues to sync the rest. However, I recently
added a meeting on the iPod calendar, so iCal launched,
and asked permission to use the keychain. I said "always allow"
and another popup asked AGAIN. I clicked "always allow" again
and got a modal popup with a title bar of "Confirm access to
keychain," a help icon in the lower left corner, and the rest
completely blank. No buttons. It is not stopping the use of
any apps, but I have to drag it out of the way all the time.
Then iTunes seemed to be syncing e-mail forever. I finally
told it to stop. An hour later, it was still "canceling sync"
so I gave it a force-quit.
I don't know why it never tried to sync e-mail before when
the box was checked. Or why it keeps complaining about
iPhoto when that box is NOT checked. Or the meaning of the modal
confirm with no button to get rid of it. (And no default that
can be triggered by hitting 'return'). Or why "canceling sync"
would run forever.

Change is inevitable. We need to learn that "inevitable" is
neither a synonym for "good" nor for "bad."
