HELP! Can't launch Word 6.0.1. after upgrading to 7.5.1

After reading all the gripes about Word on this newsgroup I am almost
afraid to post this question.

I am getting a weird message that "an unexpected error" has occurred and
Word cannot be opened. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? All
other programs (Excel, powerpoint, etc) are working find. Tried all
extensions off and reinstalling the entire office suite twice. Short of
reinstalling system softway, is there something else I can do?

Have you tried throwing out your Word preferences file?

That worked for a few problems in word 5 for me.
