I am not sure if it was moving up to SL or iTunes 9, but I have been
unable to get my favorite podcasts since. I have repaired all my
persmissions through disk utilities. I have unsubscribed and
resubscribed through the iTunes store. They are all free, such as the
NYT Weekend Business. Occasionally I when trying to force it, I get a
splash screen saying I don't have enough privileges, but I have both read
and write for my account in the iTunes get info box.

Anyone have an idea what's going on?

TIA

Yes, well unfortunately they've been discontinued. However, Microsoft has
jumped into the breach and will begin selling podcasts on 8-track tapes by
mail order for only $2.99 a pop..

Have you ever used Finder's Get Info panel to change permissions on a
system-created folder, and then pressed the "Apply to enclosed items"
button? If so, is/was your iTunes library in that folder or in any of
its subfolders?

That can be very dangerous at least in Leopard, where doing so would
often result in a whole host of permissions applied that are totally
different from what you set. I completely FUBARed my Applications folder
after doing the above on an Applecare tech's instructions. Can't say I
was very impressed. Still, that was back in 2008. I hope things are
better now, but I'll never risk it again on critical folders and files.
