FOR 190,000 COMPUTER INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS

LAS VEGAS - Nov. 14, 1994 COMDEX - The 16th annual COMDEX/Fall, America's
largest trade show conference and exposition, opened here today for an
estimated 190,000 computer professionals and 2,200 exhibiting companies from
the global computer-communications industry.

The projected attendance figure includes more than 25,000 international
delegates from more than 100 countries.

the most sought-after awards in the computer industry. The editors named

APPLE TOPS DATAQUEST'S THIRD-QUARTER U.S. SHIPMENT LIST

Compaq Still No. 1 for the Year

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Nov. 14, 1994 - Dataquest announced today at a COMDEX
press conference its third-quarter U.S. PC shipment estimates. Apple
Computer, fueled by sales of its Power Macintosh line, shipped the most PCs
in what was the largest quarter ever for the U.S. PC market. It's the first
time this year that a PC maker other than Compaq has topped Dataquest's U.S.
quarterly shipment list. Although relinquishing the lead for the quarter,
Compaq has a clear lead on a year-to-date basis.

INDUSTRY LEADERS MAP OpenDoc FUTURE

LAS VEGAS - Nov. 14, 1994 COMDEX - Component Integration Laboratories, Inc.
(CI Labs) and key industry supporters of the OpenDoc(tm) architecture today
announced a clear road map to component software on all current and future
mainstream operating systems.

WordPerfect, the Novell Applications Group committed to simultaneously
develop three versions of OpenDoc for Windows: OpenDoc for Windows 95,
OpenDoc for Windows NT 3.5 and OpenDoc for Windows 3.1. IBM and Apple
reaffirmed their commitment to helping support OpenDoc component software on
all popular operating systems. In addition, CI Labs and Taligent demonstrated

PC/COMPUTING NAMES 1994 MVP AWARD WINNERS

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 14, 1994 COMDEX - PC/Computing, the nation's only magazine
written for business experts who are also power users and buyers of computer
technology, has announced the 1994 winners of its prestigious Most Valuable
Product (MVP) Awards. The winners of these fifth annual MVP Awards were
announced here yesterday at COMDEX/Fall, the huge computer trade show.

The MVP Product of the Year Award, one of the most sought-after honors in
the computer industry, went to Toshiba America Information Systems for its
notebook, the Toshiba Portege T3600CT, which also took top honors in the
Portables category. In the new Best Usability category, Visioneer got the nod
for its Visioneer PaperMax, which also won in the Character Input Devices
group. Innovation honors went to CERN for The World-Wide Web, the Internet
navigational tool.

NOVELL'S CEO, ROBERT FRANKENBERG, ADDRESSES
PERVASIVE COMPUTING IN COMDEX KEYNOTE

LAS VEGAS - Nov. 15, 1994, COMDEX - Novell President and Chief Executive
Officer Robert J. Frankenberg in his COMDEX keynote Tuesday expounded on his
vision of pervasive computing.

"Pervasive computing is more than connecting information systems and
computing devices," said Frankenberg. "It's connecting people with other
people and the information they need, giving them the power to act on that
information anytime, anyplace."

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY HELPS U.S. MIDSIZE
COMPANIES GROW FASTER AND ADD MORE JOBS

NEW YORK - Nov. 15, 1994 - Coopers & Lybrand's "Trendsetter Barometer"
interviewed CEO's of 410 product and service companies identified in the
media as the fastest growing U.S. businesses over the last five years. The
surveyed companies range in size from approximately $1 million to $50 million
in revenue/sales.

Computers and information technology ("IT") have played a critical role in
the development and management of America's fastest growing companies,
according to the latest "Trendsetter Barometer" survey by Coopers & Lybrand
L.L.P. A total of 86 percent of fast-growth company CEO's are advocates,
rating computers and information technology "extremely important"
(60 percent) or "very important" (26 percent) to the profitable growth of
their business. An additional 12 percent rate them "somewhat important;"
only 2 percent scored information technology as "not particularly important."

IBM AS/400 WINS, GOING HEAD TO HEAD WITH HP-UX AND WINDOWS NT

LAS VEGAS - Nov. 15, 1994, COMDEX - IBM today demonstrated AS/400's(a)
client/server speed and value with a "Server Challenge" of performance tests
comprised of standards-based workloads.

Using benchmarks based on industry standard workloads, the tests showed
AS/400 to be at least 50 percent faster than both the HP and Compaq/NT in
running a composite suite of client/server tests, including decision support,
transaction processing and file serving applications.

U.S. MARSHALS SHUT DOWN BULLETIN BOARD
FOUND DISTRIBUTING PIRATED SOFTWARE

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 16 - Microsoft Corporation and Novell, Inc., announced
today that the Office of the U.S. Marshal has raided the home of the system
operator of the Cloud 9 electronic bulletin board for suspected software
piracy. The Minneapolis-based bulletin board (BBS) had been offering users
access to hundreds of illegal copies of copyright protected software
programs, including Novell(R) Netware(R) and the beta version of Microsoft
(R) Windows(TM) 95 operating system.
