Safari 6.0.4 on Mac 10.8.3

Some time after 5/20 my bookmarks all got re-arranged. I noticed this
because a folder that had been at the top suddenly showed up at the
bottom. I restored the Safari directory into Library from a backup but
I am curious if anybody knows what happened.

I don't specifically use iCloud for Safari but I was having problems
with calendar not synching birthdays to all my calendars via iCloud. I
called Apple on 5/21 and we made some changes that didn't solve the
problem. However, it is possible that Safari got on iCloud at some
point and came off scrambled. It was okay on the 5/20 backup and not on
the 5/21 and that was the only thing I did out of the ordinary.

I ended up disabling it due to issues like you describe.

This happened to me after I clicked on the iCloud icon in the Safari toolbar.

Every bookmark and folder I've ever made was suddenly restored. Now I've got a huge mess of unwanted bookmarks all mixed in with the ones I DO want.

This happens to me with Chrome when Chrome on my Kindle Fire syncs up --
the Kindle sends its old version of bookmarks up to the cloud, and then
Chrome on the Mac merges them in.

1. Go to this location in the Finder: /Users/you/Library/Safari. You
should see a file named Bookmarks.plist there.
2. Enter Time Machine, and restore the previous version of the
Bookmarks.plist file.
