PS this is on iPhoto 4.
Inside the image files, there are probably some EXIF headers that tell
when the photo was taken. There are a number of utilities that will set
the file's creation date to match the EXIF date.
I was going to point you to my favorite of these, the Photo Tools
contextual menu available from pixture.com, but it seems their website
is down. Search for EXIF on versiontracker.com and you'll see some other
options.

Doing what you want is incredibly easy--so easy, that it took me a long time to
figure it out. :)
Don't export. Don't use any menu command at all. Just click on the photos in
iPhotos and drag them to whatever folder you want. Viola!
