Hi, I'd like to export a bunch of iPhoto albums to a folder. Problem is,
whenever I do that, the exported photos all have the date and time reset to
today. Is there any way I can have the dates and times preserved? So far
the only way I have found that works is to burn the albums to a CD, and then
copy the files from the CD to my HD. It works but it wastes a CD. I guess
I can try a CD-RW, but it's still quite an inelegant solution.

TIA for any help.
PS this is on iPhoto 4.

Inside the image files, there are probably some EXIF headers that tell
when the photo was taken. There are a number of utilities that will set
the file's creation date to match the EXIF date.

I was going to point you to my favorite of these, the Photo Tools
contextual menu available from pixture.com, but it seems their website
is down. Search for EXIF on versiontracker.com and you'll see some other
options.

Thanks a bunch! I'll look into it.

Doing what you want is incredibly easy--so easy, that it took me a long time to
figure it out. :)

Don't export. Don't use any menu command at all. Just click on the photos in
iPhotos and drag them to whatever folder you want. Viola!

Many thanks!

I tried this (very elegant) solution, and had mixed results. At first
it seemed to work, but then I realized that actually it was the "last
modified" date that stuck to the photo when it was dragged into the
finder. In fact, the date created now equals the last modified date,
not the actual creation date.

Anyone have more solutions to this problem?

Thanks,
MCP
