Figured I'd buy the upgrade. New translaters for newly issued versions of
various applications etc.

Installed it.

Word 5.x takes forever to present me a dialog on whether to open a text
file as a text file. Like 2 minutes.

Unexpected system bombs. Word quits unexpectedly.

Its outta here.

And no email address for data viz. Lets see if they read this newsgroup.

Anyone else w similar problems (or solutions?)

Steve,

I've been using version 8 since it came out without any problems at all. I
use v8 on both a PPC8100 and on a 540C and love it.

I cannot imagine that a later version would do that. I run 7.5 with
absolutely no trouble whatsoever. I guess mine doesn't count, but...just
my two cents worth

I had the same problem. It's a particular translater (WordPerfectMac 3 I think?).
Remove that one and loading times will be lots better. Oh, and DataViz solution?
Don't use them!!!!! Gotta like people who tell you the fix to their programs is
not to use them.
