How are they getting this to start in the background? I've checked my
login items. I've checked /Library/StartupItems. I've looked in /etc.
No joy. I've now sent them a question about this, as I don't want to
delete the apps, but I don't want them running in the background
stealing performance when I might invoke them every blue moon or less
often. I'd rather Lightroom and such catalog new images w/o having
Kodak's software get in the way.

Have a look in /Library/LaunchAgents, and ~/Library/LaunchAgents (that's
the one under your home folder).

LaunchAgents are typically launched whenever a user logs in.
