Are there any apps that do this for imagines ON MY MAC ?
I know about the Google servie and it's great.
But I want to take an image and search for copies, similar on my mac and
external hard drives.
Is there such a thing ?

I took a nap... Since you asked...
Firstly install Macports:
http://www.macports.org/install.php
Then, from the commandline:
sudo port install digikam
That's it. Just make some albums and look for the duplicate search in
the menus!
There might be other ways...

sudo port install -v digikam

Then, from the commandline:

.... I want to to a reverse image search ? based on the contents of the
image ... the shape of the image .... etc. ?
