Uhh, all of us except the members of the Senate of course,
they are exempt from paying those fines, according to the
bill they just passed.
Way to go, senators -

Boy, you don't ever want to move to any other industrialised country in
the world. After all - _every_ _single_ _one_ except the US has
universal health care. Worse - more often than not it's socialised
medicine! *gasp* But that's not all!!! OMG! It also - wait for it -
WORKS (better than US health care at least)!!!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
Anyway - if that keeps nuts like you away from my country then I'm happy
enough :-D

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
Oh, and if it seems like there's some anger there on my part - you're
dead right. I've a couple US friends who suffer under the current
bullshit US healthcare system that doesn't look after anyone without
deep pockets. If they were New Zealanders (or [insert other
industrialised and even some developing countries here]) they'd have a
much easier time and far, far less stress and worry. I can't help
thinking that's a bullshit situation for what is supposed to be the most
developed nation.

Perhaps the US is like God with respect to the problem of evil, when the
whole is revealed, it will be seen to be the best and the seemingly bad
jigsaw bit of poorer people suffering health problems will only seem bad
when it is isolated from the whole.

Oh, I am all for Obama socialized health care, because I am one
of those "deep pocket" guys you mentioned.
Worked my ass off during the USA/Russia cold war days in a
research facility, made $80,000 yearly in 1980 dollars.
(imagine what that would be in 2009 dollars)
Was in the 33% tax bracket, so $26,400 yearly went for taxes.
No vacations or any holidays like Xmas, was not unusual for me
to work 3 days and nights at a stretch.
Capitalist working pig, y'know.
As a deep-pockets guy who has _both_ medicare and
medicare supplement coverage, I was in fat city,
never paid a dime for my medical problems.
Got everything back that I had paid for ahead of time,
with my taxes.
Of course there are little things, like I do not have enough
money to repair my 40 year old roof, nor my 40 year old
plumbing which runs half water and half rust.
Plus I will be completely broke in about a year, so my fellow
USA people will need to support me on welfare.
But by that time I should scrape enough together to move to
New Zealand and get in on your welfare system.
See ya in a year or so.
I really find this all amusing, I get the best medical care
available, four times better per capita access to MRIs
for example than the median of all other socialist
countries, no long waits here for expensive MRIs
like in your country.
tter-access-to-health-tech-than-world.html>
The rich New Zealanders migrate here to avoid the
long line waits in NZ, for their MRI procedures.
Gotta run now, need to figure the best port of entry
to get into NZ. Whole bunch of other USA guys
waiting for my input on this matter.

When Richard Nixon first ran for Congress in 1948, his campaign called
people and claimed Nixon's opponent was a communist. Nixon later
admitted he knew it wasn't true but he had to win.
Fast-forward 60 years later and not much has changed.

LBJ it was said suggested his campaign spread a rumor that an
opponent was engaged in carnal knowledge with livestock. One advisor was
said to been aghast and asked LBJ if he really thought anyone would
believe it. LBJ was supposed to have suggested he just wanted to make
the guy publicly deny it.
And then there was the Bobby Kennedy whistlestop through Indiana
that inspired the legendary "Ruthless Cannonball" ditty.

To bring this back to the health care debate:
Since some states are requiring companies to provide health coverage to
various partners regardless of sexual preference, it should be no time
'til my HMO puts on a large-animal veterinarian. *THE* Bill Price of MW
> Provision of the Health Bill they just passed

If I believed the reports of "ObamaCare" from usenet I'd sure have a
lot of nonsense in my head.
My understanding, admittedly not couched in Konservative-speak, is that
"ordinary people", most of whom are covered by insurance at work, will
have no changes as a result of "ObamaCare". Instead, their rates will
continue to skyrocket, just the way the Republican party and a
horrifying percentage of the Demcratic party want.
Likely their rates will rise higher than previously while the health
care industry tried to get while the getting is still good.

But what about the scary "DEATH PANELS". Don't you have to pay to
avoid being led to the gallows with "ObamaCare" too? :-0

Part of the continuing rocketing will things that the Feds will
require in both coverage and taxes, etc. There will be ADDITIONAL
increases over and above what would have happened anyway. That should
help affordability.

Of course their exempt, they all have health care...
Now it's our turn!!

Wish I had saved that website report.
As that report stated, if a person decided against
using ObamaCare for whatever reason, he would
immediately have to pay a $95 fine the first year
ObamaCare went into effect, or go to jail.
That fine would rise to $416 dollars in following
years. I wish the wording of the bill was posted
somewhere so we could check for ourselves, instead
of getting these 2nd-hand reports from others.
For sure, it is doubtful the politicians will even
bother reading the bill they are voting on :(

Anyone recommend a USB printer, Mac compatible OS X, that is good for
both printing documents in black and white and photographs (especially
in Black and white to get decent blacks) that goes up to A3 but happily
prints A4.

I actually support this if they are going to require insurance
companies to get rid of existing condition exclusions. Otherwise, I am
not going to get insurance until I get a nasty diagnosis and then I am
going to get the best gold-plated coverage I can. Only thing that makes
economic sense.
Although my personal preference would be something like now in group
policies where they can't say anything about pre-existing conditions if
you were insured during the last (IIRC) 6 months.

Oooh! "For any reason". That sounds *scary*!

I heard it was 4 hundred THOUSAND dollars.

Yeah, since there have been a couple hundred versions of "the bill" it
would be nice to have only 4th hand info rather than 4th hand.
> For sure, it is doubtful the politicians will even

For sure. And that can likely be said of those people paraphrasing what
they heard on a website about what happened in congress during months
of endlessly changing variations, which have have yet to be been merged
by both houses.
