Hi all,

I wonder if anyone knows why Internet Explorer 5 on a Mac sometimes
gives the following error:
Forbidden: Your client is not allowed to access the requested object.

when accessing (for example): http://homepage.mac.com/mariamckee/

Netscape 4.7x always loads that page fine.

Is it something with the HTML code that causes this? Or something else,
maybe homepage.mac.com being busy? But then I wonder why Netscape does
not have this problem.

Thanks in advance.

/Markku

I just tried it with Netscape Communicator 4.78, and got the Forbidden
message.

This sometimes happens to me as well, although I have no idea what's
causing it. Often, reloading the page seems to work.

More data points:

IE 5.1.3 Mac OS X accesses it fine.

OmniWeb 4.0.5 gives the Forbidden message.

However, a _repeat_ with IE gives the message.

My tentative conclusion: a time-dependent error, probably indicating
constraints at the homepage.mac.com site (too many users?).

Internet Explorer 5? Seriously?

look at the date of the post he responded to. it's from 2001, when
internet explorer was widely used.

I hate to admit that I rather enjoy this latest trend of spammers trying
to get past filters by dredging up 15 year old threads and posting their
own response. It's quite an entertaining journey back into internet
history. I wonder when they'll respond to one of my own ancient posts.
