I was thinking I'd just toss it and start over by dragging all
my files into iTunes and letting it build a new Library.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't so that?
Could I run into any problems?

The only ones that I can think of is that you will loose ratings and
playlists.

And any info not stored in ID3 tags (for instance, title, album and
artist for WAV/AIFF files.)
