I downloaded it and I am kicking the tires on it now.
You are incorrect about Microsoft tools. They have been free, if you
knew where to get them.
Currently, they are offering a deal on Express versions of Visual
Studio 2005, deal as in free:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/default.aspx
Also, free SQL express, same location:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/default.aspx
If you were aware of the DDK and PSDK, there have been free compilers
in those for eons.
Last but not least, there has been DJGPP.. the Intel version of our
beloved g++ compiler that is the base for xtools. Wrap that one up with
the PSDK (Platform SDK for the "Windows experts" here).
I am a fan of the Mac, I am a fan of Windows. I just like to keep the
record straight for both sides.
lol
Thats funny. Microsoft charged me for Visual Studio 2003. And over 2
years after its release ZERO problem fix updates have been produced for
it. Yet Apple updates Xcode regularly and it is totally free.

All of God's creatures have a place..........
.........right next to the potatoes and gravy.
That's odd. I got several patches for Visuual Studio 2003 Enterprise
Architect. That does not include the patches that came for .Net
Framework, which came over in the disguise of Windows Updates.
The new release has new compiler features for new Intel hardware that
is coming down the pipe.
In Visual Studio parlance, it is more comparable to VS 2005 than it is
to a patch.
