...they make it look as close as possible to the equivalent Apple
product.

Case in point:

"Second and perhaps more exciting is the HP Envy 14 TouchSmart Ultrabook
(pictured first in the gallery above) which appears to be trying to ape
the MacBook Pro with Retina Display."

I guess The Verge are just "maccies" now, huh?

sit in the bottom of that cupboard."

Pretty much Alan, the issue is that Apple have built their market upon
making sexy looking products.

It is hard for other company's to get noticed or stand out.

it's not Apple's fault, the other company's have been snoozing and
looks was never part of their brief before.

I do however like Alienware stuff, gimmicky but different and pretty
cool looking.

Yes, form before function.

That's why Samsung is taking over.

And that's why Apple is getting crushed - underestimated the
competition.

Yes, they make it looking cool (and to a certain point ape Apple) but
then they make it not only *looking* cool, but *being* cool i.e.
delivered with THE industry standard OS from the beginning, not a
fisher-price OS that need to be replaced by a real one to run serious
software.

So widdle fishie passed up the bait a few times, but ultimately,
couldn't resist sucking it down.
